Gosh! That's not a thread, it's a book! Some very interesting stuff there, Tyg. I liked the idea of the chickens that can close their ear flaps to keep them waterproof when roosting, would have been useful last week, wouldnt it? Also the way Polenesian settlers carried ceremonial roosters with them on their boats - rather like Chris i thought. Some beautiful pictures there too. A pity it degenerated into a spat between a couple of people, but a lot to learn there all the same.
 
The Hawian Red looks very similar to our Brown English Leghorns. The Leghorn club tells me they get the occasional 'jungle fowl' throwback during breeding programmes.

Yes Marigold, we travelled with ours on a boat and hundreds of miles (743) and have them here as both food and decoration.
