Hi All
I am new to this incubating and this week i put some mallard eggs in the incubator and after they had been in for 18 hours we had a power cut for 25 hours! is it worth leaving them or will they be no good now?

This is a hard one. If you are able to candle them in 7 days to see if there's any development, you could try that. Unless these eggs are something special, I'd be inclined to start again. Then again, the incubator is on and unless you've got any eggs to go in straight away, you might as well risk it.

Thanks Chuck
I was thinking along these lines. I will candle them in a week and take it from there.
Thanks again

Hi Garwayboy. If power cuts are a regular thing in your area you might consider a large 12V battery (120Ah), a 300W inverter and a power failure alarm. We used ours several times during incubation last September. When we went out we ran the incubator off the battery in case there was a power cut in our absence.
