Pom found dead in field

I had a big shock yesterday to find Pom, my lovely Araucana, dead and sprawled flat with her wings open in my field pen yesterday afternoon. She had a fairly empty crop, but otherwise looked healthy and was in lay and had laid an egg the day before. There was no sign of anything being wrong with her and she had no injuries. I'm concerned as I recently lost an Australorps bantam from the same pen but she was ill for 36 hours then seemed to have a haemmorhage.

You will have to forgive me chickenfan as I can't always remember exactly which of your chickens have suffered from which problems in the past but from the general thread of things over the last year I would say that somewhere along the line you have ended up with birds which are prone to heart problems. This sounds like a heart attack.

At least she was foraging in a field at the time.
