Thought I'd update about my poland who was scratching herself silly around the ears, wobbling about, recovering and then going downhill again. I put some liquid parrafin in her ears as suggested by VP in an earlier thread and she recovered well but then over the bank holiday weekend went downhill again!

Took her to my lovely vet who at first suspected mareks (Arghhh!) But when I explained that she had already had it once and recovered he ruled that out and after examining her ears he has given her antibiotics for an ear infection - she already has brightened up a lot so I'm hoping this is the last of it.

Just thought I'd update for those who tried to help and thought it might help someone else out who has a chicken with similar problems ;)

So pleased she is on the mend :) ,that is a relief :D .Which antibiotic did your vet prescribe?Hope she never gets it again poor love.

Thanks Lydia, He gave her an injection of Marbocyl. And I give her 0.5ml of it orally a day. She's doing great now- Couldn't be happier! It was certainly worth braving a waiting room full of cats, dogs and people looking at me like I was a mad woman  and only cost me £13.50 - my vet is a star :D

I want your vet :D .it is such a relief when they turn the corner and improve, really pleased she's better. How grey/white are you now  .

Thanks Sue, She's doing really well. The crest bath sounds fun! Been checking mine regularly for mites but they're fine so far. They are definitely worth the extra effort though :D

I was my girls heads with johnsons baby shampoo, they smell wonderful afterwards!
I then spray them with anti mite spray, touch wood they don;t have a problem with mites which polish have a tendancy to get especially in the head feathers.
Hope all is well

Sue
