The gorgeous Poland Bobblettes (eggs from PJ and Bobble) are now just over 3 weeks. One is a defo boy--extra cheeky, hefty legs and 'attitude!'. On picking him up today I noticed he has developed a tiny pink/pimple comb . Is this an accurate 'boy' idicator at this age or does this show up on girls too ? Thanks for any help--Ros

I am not very good at sexing chicks, but i hope this helps anyway (theoretically!!!) Hens combs go red when they are POL. when they are younger, they are pink. cockerels combs go red/pink earlier on and, at chick stage, they also feather up more slowly. If the cockerels of the colour variation you have are very colourful, then later on, more colour to the plumage is also a sign.
As I said, I dont know much, but i hope this helps!!! :)

Hi I do not know if will works for poland, but with my small expirience I have notice few things with boys and girls. So far it worked for me 100%.Girls grow wing feathers in much faster rate-at a week old cleary wisible and boys still look like newlyhatch with flaffy wings.Other feathers also grow at much faster rate. They also more hungry than boys-eat much more and gain more weight(I do weigh them every week)So after a week you can have clear signals as to sex.By the 3 week boys also show their mail attitude. It is fun to wach them and my newly hatched allredy sexed by me 3girls and 1 boy.Good luck and have fun.Tell me if it works to you too :D

Thanks for the help guys. Didnt really make myself clear --I was trying to find out more specifically re Polands and their first sign of 'pimple comb! ' Ros
