Please reply ASAP!!

My chicken Melody isn't doing anything at all exept sleep, and im very worried.
The weather is very bad at the moment -4 so i don't know if it just that shes very cold or shes ill,
She was fine yesterday but this morning when i went up to check on them and Melody was just standing there in the garden asleep, shes being eating and drinking fine as i know the last few days, but im very worried. I've got her in the kitchen in a box with straw in the bottom to hopefully warm her up a bit but im very worried as she won't take any water and as far as i know she isn't pooping, The most shes moved is to turn around in the box. Can cold affect them like this?

Please help, i really don't know what too do!

These are just non specific ill chicken symptoms I am afraid. Anything specific--eg respiratory , signs of mite in house etc? Wormed? You need to keep her warm and comfortable, if she is not drinking or eating she needs some fluids -I find it easiest to syringe some into them by mouth. You could also try a bit of warm mash , porridge or similar like this too. She doesnt sound good unfortunately , if there is nothing specific you may decide a vets visit is appropriate. Thats not very hepful Im afraid--hope all goes well -let us know. Ros

I've checked the house for mites, and its fine. and i wormed them all in July.
But this is the second chicken to die, do you think they were just unhealthy ones when i bought them?
I've syringed some water into her mouth and it seemed to liven her up a bit, but then she just went back too sleep, :-)09

------Cakie---how old are they, what breed, how long have you had them ,when did the other one die??---info that might just give a clUe --Ros

Hi,offer her moistened food as it is easier for poorly hens to eat, either layers mash or pellets which you've softenend to a porridge like consistency with warm water.
Personally,I would consider taking her to your vet's.Good luck,I do hope she is better soon.

Please use garlic juice to recover it. Mash 2 cloves of garlic mix with Apple Cider Vinegar. just make 10 ml of solution. put it in its mouth by the help of a dropper. She will come up soom. do it 3 time a day.
be hopefull.
