Never kept pigs and never wanted too. But this last four days I’ve been tending a neighbours pigs while he’s away in England. He doesn’t breed them or eat them. He keeps them as ploughs to rotationally graze, dig and fertilise his land.
They are friendly enough but when I appear to feed them it’s complete mayhem. Theyd have me off my feet in the stampede. I’m glad there’s only three of them. :D
 
Our neighbour was a keen pig breeder in her younger years, now she just gets in a few weaners to raise for meat for a few people. They are the same Hen-Gen and if you was to fall down they would soon see you as food, remember Jean having a really nasty bite from one.
Isn't it a well known fact that the best way of disposing of a body is to feed it to pigs.
Good way of rotivating the land though. Does he keep them inside during the winter, as they can be very sensitive to cold and damp, or does he have a special hardy breed ?
 
They also say they’re intelligent animals too. They have an old buoy hanging from the ceiling for their amusement. Nevertheless they seem to delight in throwing their food and water containers about. Very house trained though, always pooing in the same corner of the barn in which they over winter.
They are Gloucester Old Spot crosses.
As for disposing of bodies wasn’t it Silence of the Lambs or some book of that ilk where bodies were fed to pigs? Or maybe some movie from the fertile imagination of him who did Reservoir Dogs.
 
Not sure about fiction, Hen Gen, but I know I've read of two cases in the last several months where farmers had been killed and eaten by their own pigs. Was in the US, I think. Just can't imagine such a horrible death.
 
I used to live in Suffolk and many years ago in the days when pigs were still farmed intensively indoors, a farm worker fell through the roof of the pig house. I can't remember whether or not the fall killed him, but the pigs had eaten his arm before he was found. It didn't put me off eating pork though!
 
They were Jean's favourite breed Gloucester Old Spots. Pigs do have their own little corner for a latrine, quite tidy in that way and they are smart, they love a football as well.
There have been several cases in America where bodies have been fed to pigs, and I remember reading about farmers being eaten by their pigs. Wasn't someone eaten by their Boar as well ?
 
Wow I had no idea that pigs would eat humans. Learn something every day. And that's put my favourite film, Babe, the pig, in a different light. ? ?
 
Even more so if he takes Miss Piggy to France :D
We have just had some of our neighbours pork, slow roasted and coated with fennel seeds lovely
 
Bricktop in snatch, fed people to pigs. Also in hanibal, the bloke in the wheelchair was breeding pigs so he could feed them Dr lector.
 
It's not just people they eat. I remember talking to a friend about his India adventure where he spent a year travelling around. Apparently in Goa they have public toilets known as 'the pig toilets' where they are fed human excrement via chutes from above. No more details were given, so what happens to the pigs I don't know?
