hi these are my first quails, can anyone tell if they are male or female, or is it to early yet.

With those colours I think it will be quite hard to tell until they begin to show sexual behaviour like foaming or crowing or laying eggs of course. Trouble is, if they have either predominantly white chests or else have the same pattern over their chests as the rest of their bodies, there just isn't the difference in chest colour you get with the 'normal' browns. And you have one of each sort,, in these pics.

thank you marigold i think the speckled is a female, perhaps that's me hoping as she is really cute.
