Hi. how much pellets do my pol chucks need to maintain a healthy state and produce eggs?
they are kept in the stable at the moment but when they ae settled in they will have the run of twenty acres and locked .up safe each night

Allow them to take as much as they like. If in a stable then use a Hanging feeder so you can see if they are wasting it by throwing it around- but the right type of feeder and you will not get much waste. Once they are allowed free range then the amount of pellets they eat may go down but still ensure that they have free access all the time.

I would just add that it is probably worth keeping them in for a short period first thing to make sure they get a good ration of pellets inside them which helps with their laying as given half a chance they will be straight out the door and scratching about in the vegetation which isnt always optimum for egg size and quantity, gives them some calcium too

Give them access to a small amount of pellets all the time and let them help thamselves. They will find much of their food out at range but they will not wander that far from home, especially in the first instance. Train them to come when you shake a tin with mixed corn so that you have control and they will come when you shake the tin.
