Hello everyone,
Can someone tell me when the above chap is likely to start crowing?. I cannot remember at what age the others I have hatched and raised started to crow.
This little boy is the most georgeous lavender. He is eventually going down down to Cornwall, but if he starts to crow here I cannot keep him, and he will have to be a little breeder somewhere else!.
He has not even squeaked yet so maybe I have a few more weeks. Any ideas, please about the age they start to crow?

Even if he does start in the next few weeks, is that going to be a big problem, since the days are getting shorter and the mornings are getting darker up to Christmas? People don't usually complain about cockerels unless it's a summer morning when all the windows are open and the bird starts up about 4 or 5 a.m. Not many people will even be out in their gardens to hear him during the day for a few months I should think.

Thanks M for your reply,
the gift of darkness had not occurred to me! it will give me a few weeks leeway. His new human mum-to-be has both moved and been unwell, so he is awaiting a lift down to Cornwall when she is settled and up and running. Regards, VB.

Herbert, my little pekin cockerel, started crowing a few weeks ago at about 11 weeks old. It sounds so funny - it trails off at the end as if he's run out of batteries!

iv 3 that dont make a sound and they are over 20 weeks how lucky am i. (iv now tempted fate and all 3 will start up in the morn) i have an adult who only crows for a little bit then shuts up till about lunch
but they all start some were down the lane
