Over fed?

I've raised chickens for many years but until this spring I've never owned geese. I have a Toulouse & an Emden that are now 9 weeks old. They're both huge! They free range on my 2 acres, but also have access to all the flock raiser crumbles they desire. Every week they eat significantly more than the week prior. The 50 pound bag of food I bought for them 8 days ago is gone. I'm shocked they can put away that much food in a week. At $17 a bag, this free feeding has to stop. How much should I allow them to have daily, and should I take them off raiser? If so, what should they be fed? I get conflicting info from websites. I'd rather get my advise straight from back yard goose owners.

Hello and welcome :)
If they have access to good, fresh, green grass then i would only feed them wheat or mixed corn- and only once a day-i give mine their feed when i lock them up at night-also encourages them to go into their sheds :) In the winter they have ad lib feed - as there is no grass.
regards, David :)

Thanks! My 18 pound babies have plenty of grass & various other greens to forage on all day. I have to go to the feed store this evening. I'll buy corn & wheat instead of yet another bag of raiser, & stop keeping the pan full all day. These guys are serious gluttons.
