Well I decided this morning that it really was time for puddle and mum(muscovies) to go into the main duck run, where there is a nice large shed with only two Muscovies in at the moment so perfect! :D
In I pop Puddle and her mum....watch them contentedly foraging, happy as larry , so I wander back to the house, I glance up and think oh..there's a bird I've not seen here before...a speck in the sky...before I realise its that darned Puddle!!! Closely followed by mum....sigh.....that worked well not....they are now both back happily by the pond in their old ark looking very smug

I had a Dark Campbell that had me really confused - He used to fly from his pen to drop in and see some of my other ducks and fly back again.... I couldn't work out why I was getting such funny looking ducklings that were clearly not pure bred!

I spotted him doing it one day so he ended up going in a shorter run so he couldn't get a long enough run up to take off...

I hear the mightly flaps of a bird overhead, could be a Raven, could be a heron, look up and no it's a muscovy. I got 2 females last year that we winged clipped before I left with them, but now feathered up again she can fly. Haven't the heart to do it again - and she's coming home. The other one can fly too of course but I have to walk her to where her friend has got to as she hasn't taken to it like the other one.
