Olive green eggs

I've come home after a couple of weeks away, to find that Millie, our adopted 8 year old araucana, has very unexpectedly come into lay! She's produced 3 of the most beautiful olive green eggs in the last 6 days! Not bad for her age, huh?

How wonderful. She obviously likes it in her new home. I bet her previous owner is delighted as well. I didn't think hens could lay into their ninth year.

And I thought our Lucy Legbar was doing well! She has laid 4 eggs in 6 days and is 6 years old. She has just recovered from a terrible dog attack which left her blind for two weeks. In fact she is laying better now than she ever has.

Someone came to get some replacement Marans as his last one had died age 12 - I said I bet you didn't get any eggs off her for a few years. No - he said - she was laying the occasional egg up to a few weeks before she died :shock:
