I've come home after a couple of weeks away, to find that Millie, our adopted 8 year old araucana, has very unexpectedly come into lay! She's produced 3 of the most beautiful olive green eggs in the last 6 days! Not bad for her age, huh?

How wonderful. She obviously likes it in her new home. I bet her previous owner is delighted as well. I didn't think hens could lay into their ninth year.

And I thought our Lucy Legbar was doing well! She has laid 4 eggs in 6 days and is 6 years old. She has just recovered from a terrible dog attack which left her blind for two weeks. In fact she is laying better now than she ever has.
