I've been offered a pair of old English game hens to go with my Pekins. I know very little about them as a breed, can anyone educate me please ? They'll have to be penned much of the time, but am getting a 25m electric fence because of recent dog attacks. I've read that they don't like being confined. I'm not too bothered about egg production, my priority is friendly birds that will be ok with my current Pekins. Any info or advice would be welcome.

Lovely birds! Very friendly, easy to handle, mine sits on my shoulder & chatters away. cant wait to have more of them :D

Thanks ncotb, they sound lovely. The breeder found two pekins for me though and she thought I'd be better with them as I have some already and need to pen them up. They arrive tomorrow.

i had three given to me as chicks last year which i sold at point of lay. they are pretty birds but i found them quite pheasant like. i did wonder when i got them what they would be like and the ones i had were flighty and nervous and quite wild. also i had large fowl and wasnt aware of a bantam version?? maybe it was just mine that were a bit wild?
