Hi there I have 3 gorgeous Peking ducks that are 12 weeks old, I hatched them all my sel and are my little pets, one is female and two are male, they all get on like a house on fire haha, UNTIL both boys started bobbin there head then one jumped on the girls back while he had hold of hair neck , but they were in water and he was pushing her head under water, so I broke them up I got very distressed a I do when I go the park and see thi happening all the time, I always try brake it up , the girls sometimes drowns? I'm scared, what should I do, these all get on like brothers and sisters and it was a shock yesterday when it happened, I was kinda hopin this would never happen

This is normal :) Dont worry unless the female gets really bad mating damage. Ducks can hold their breath for a long time and it is preferable for them to be mated with while on water. If she is head bobbing she is consenting. Don't try and break them up, they will be fine. Normal mating process.
You need to start worrying if the two boys gang up on her and she is trying to escape by running and hiding. They may be ok though if they have been raised together.

To be honest the girl for the last 3 weeks or so has been greeting me with thi very amusing head bob, (I could upload funny videos of her if I new how too) it's very very funny, bso is that greeting me? Sayin hello,

head bobbing serves a few functions.
It can be a type of greeting but may also serve for her to judge how far away you are. Ducks have monocular vision s they have poor depth of field perception, if they bob their head up and down they can get a fairer assessment of how far away you are from them.
head bobbing also precedes flight in wild ducks and also precedes copulation.

Well say I walk in from being at work all day walk into back garden and she is at the other end. She will run up to me really fast bobbing her head like a lunatic whilst making a funny croaky noise haha, she comes right up to me, of late ave noticed when she dies get up to me she actually stops all the bobbing and stretches her neck out and lowers her head, I stroke her neck u assumed she likes it haha, funny little characters they are, it's only the girl that does this funny headbobbing while croaking away haha

Ahhhh, update!!! My girlfriend has just been watching them, she said the girl head bobbed then lowered hair head and kneck to the floor, then the lads started bobbing there heads an ran over an got on her an she didn't fight off, is this an acceptance call of some sort may e???

yep, that is her inviting the boys to mate her. She may also do it to you if she sees you as a mate. It's odd she lets you stroke her, so it is likely she is presenting for you, rub her tail end, see what she does ;)

Aw does that mean she loves me haha, it's funny she only does it to me, and she has turned pretty affectionate

Ok so if theSe ducks are goin to mate, that means the eggs will be vertile? Does this mean there no longer eddible

You can eat the eggs Paddy, even if they fertile, as long as they have not started to develop.. ;)

Eeeeee or should I say awww, I'm a vegetarian and am unsure weather I agree with eatin them when virile, wonder if anyone else has any views, for instance how will I no if they have progresses. Candle them all? Imagine cracking an egg in to your fryin pan and seein blood OMG!!!!

they will no even begin to develop until mum starts sitting on them, so as long as you take them away every day you are safe :)
