Hi my 22 week old baby pekin duck has been Layin an edge every day now for 3 weeks or so, normally lays at night when we put her to bed but about half an hour ago 1.30pm she has laid an egg but it don't have a shell it's just like a soft membrane egg, what the hell happened?????

If its anything like hens, its called a softy. Softies can be laid due to lack if calcium in the diet, or a shock. Nothing to.worry about really...

Don't know about ducks, but in chickens it often takes a while for the reproductive system to settle down properly and sometimes young pullets just starting lay strange eggs occasionally, including softies. I'm sure the duck people will advise you from their wider experience, but if she was a chicken I'd just keep an eye on her for a while and not worry unless she seems upset or ill in any other way.

Cool ok thanks for advice, you say can happen with shock , well seems she lauded egg about 9 hours before I think this may have just came out prematurely that's all, thanks guys I'll let you no how my baby's is tomorrow

Hi Paddy, yes keep an eye on her... mine do this sometimes, did she have an upset at all?
Also do you offer them oyster shell?

Do you mix oyster shell in with feeders pellets or do I have separate dish? An how much are they allowed

Separate dish, do not mix it in with their feed. Leave it out for them to eat free choice as much or as little as they want :)
