Dear Fellow chook fanciers

My 4 lovely Warrens have in the last week reverted to laying only 1 egg among them a day. they are too be honest spoilt rotten, do any of the more experienced people out there know why this is happening, is it related to daylight hours perhaps?

please help

Kind regards

hi Scuffer,
It is most likely due to there being less daylight,the receptor by their eye will not be sending the signals to lay but to reduce laying.
Are they moulting as well?This would also take valuable reserves needed for egg laying.

ye its do to daylight the only thing you can do for egg production is give them artificial light. although not always great as they need a rest and to possible moult.

You are lucky getting one egg from 4 chickens, ive got 30 chickens and i am getting only one egg from them, most are moulting, how old are yours? if they are still young they might come back again, even with the dark nights.I have found any thing can cause them to stop laying, {i think i need to replace most of mine they are getting a free ride with NO return, most of mine must be 5 - 6 years old, i think its time for some new blood }
