My Warren Ginger has started on some days sending out liquid poo, and then other days normal. This what she and the other chickens and ducks have been eating lately. dandeloin leaves, cauliflower leaves, layered pellets, maize, apple peel, carrot peel, worms, spiders, lettuce scraps (only a small amount) beetles some small bits of banana and some fresh grass. I know that is a lot of different things and not served on the same day, but all the weeds inthe garden have long gone, and i wanted to make the food a bit different for them. She is full of energy smells fresh feathers glossy and runs around like there is no tomorrow. And still laying a good egg almost every day, with a nice hard shell and a nice size.
What have i fed her that could be causing the watery poo though.

Hi Aileen it is mostly clear with some white and with no smell. Yesterday it was normal and the day before, but the day before that it was just watery with white again. As i say all look healthy and happy they all come and stand around me when i sit in the garden with a cup of tea. I change the coops every week sometimes twice if they smell, i put fresh sawdust down with some straw bedding. the coops have all been sprayed with johnsons mite spray. They have plenty of clean water every day as i have 4 different containers with water in around the garden, and with the ducks it gets dirty quickly so i replace it for them

Hi Steph,
thanks for the site, And i thought i took odd photos. The Watery one does look similar to gingers but needs more white. I will keep an eye on her and try and see some more. Oh what a fun thing for a wet day.

Glad to help, good luck with the poo party! :D

I LOVE the poo chart, I've had it on my favourites for months! LOL  It's a great if a bit gross tool!
Anyhoo, how is your chook ? And I forgot to ask how old? Watery poo can sometimes be kidney?? I may need to check that out and confirm but I am sure white poo can, on occasions, be indicitive of an underlying issue

Well Henry I think you have probably answered your own question, if she is healthy and well I really wouldn't worry, there is a wide range of "normal" droppings with poultry, this is largely due to the very different digestive system they have to mammals. I really don't pay any attention to chicken poo, unless something is amiss with a bird, then I would take a closer look.

A varied diet will have an effect however, especially if the it is something you are giving every now and then. Lots of soft vegetables, left overs etc..will result in more liquid droppings as a general rule.

Ours do that. Normal poos and then a watery one with no solids to speak of. None of them are ill but at the moment they are eating a lot of watery food like fallen pears and apples. So I suppose its better to do it that way to get rid of the excess water than have every poo runny and sticking to their feathers. Of course they drink as normal, as if their crop was full of dry pellets when really they don't need to drink as much when eating fruit.

Hi Ginger is now back to her old self and firm poo as she demonstrated to me today on my t-shirt. I have now noticed that they all do different depending on what i have fed them, remarkable what you notice when you really look.
Thank You All
