My three Rhode Islands hatched last June have still not started laying , anyone else having similar problems ?

Hello, they shouldn't be long- now the days are geting longer. My pullets have layed all winter but my old hens are just starting again. A bit of sunshine and a few warmer days will help lots.
regards, David :)

Cheers , It has been a cold winter so it's not surprising I suppose.

you should get an egg any time soon. they waiting for the sunshine before they start!

i hatched bantams last summer and so far out of the tenish hens iv had 1 egg my young ducks who are much younger are laying most days. my older hens have only just started laying so hoping it catches on.
i hoping for a rainbow multi sized egg basket
good luck shouldnt be long now :D

I have been impatiently waiting as no-one was laying, 2 three year old hybrids , 2 two year old pekins and 2 young araucanas I got last autumn. Great excitement this morning as one araucana was making a definite "I've laid an egg " noise and when I went to check one lovely blue egg and also a pekin egg. I read somewhere recently that Valentines day was traditionally regarded as the day hens started laying again.

As everyone has said, it shouldnt be too long with the days getting longer. are their combs & wattles reddening up?
