Non-fertile eggs...

If a hen that is sitting eggs knows that an egg is not fertile, will she continue to sit it? I had taken 2 Favorelle eggs and placed them under a good setter and after about a week, the eggs are gone, but she is still sitting a blue egg that we put under her. Any suggestions.

Generally, they'll continue to sit whether the eggs are fertile or not. Likely causes are that she was scratching around and they got broken then eaten or rats took them.
