noisy hen

hiya yesterday i put my 5 (lost one) little road island red x light sussex (5 weeks old) in a run so my girls could get used to them! and one of my old girls has been making a god awful noise ever since almost as bad has having a cock in the garden!!! i also noticed two hawks overhead and again today could it be the chicks thats upseting her or the hawks? she really is quite upset ...anyhelp please?

I'm sure someone more experienced will have a better idea on this but I would think its the hawk that's upsetting your chook. They can carry small birds off so be careful of your young ones.

My friend had a very tame blackbird in their garden, used to always be around the garden especially when any digging was going on. The other week they saw it being carried off by a hawk They tred to scare the hawk away but it just grabbed poor blackbird & took off.

Apparently pretend Owls will scare off birds of prey, I've read this on this site but it was a while ago, you might find the info on the search button. Might be of help.
