I have a Cotswold Cream Legbar about 6/7 months old. She lays an egg every day, but it's cream and not blue as I was told she lays. I bought her from a breeder who lives about 25 miles from me. Could the change in soil, grass, diet have affected the colour of the eggs. She's a large hen but not very active. Also, how do I post photos of my hens on this site?

Anyone help please? Thank you. :-)19

Hi Sunenuff and welcome to the forum. As I understand it the colour is genetic, not dietry. They lay colours from white through sky blue to green and it's somewhat luck of the draw what you get. Depends on the breeding somewhat. If the breeder sold you a pullet that was supposed to lay blue eggs, which you specifically bought for that reason and then she didn't, I'd take her back.

hi you say a large hen he hasnt given you an old bird has he as this can affect egg colour has she got a small comb or a large one i would take her back but make a call first to see if he will exchange her hope this helps uncle fox
