hello,

i need some help. i just got four baby chickens. planning to raise them up and hope to get some eggs... i am new to this an need as much help as anyone can offer.

the store told me the following:

1 nest box for 4-5 chickens????? is this true???

so i plan to get a total of 8 -10 chickens. the store told me to build the following. a coop and a run.

the run i built is 4 feet by 8 feet

the coop is four feet by four feet. and has three nest boxes attached to the outside. they are a foot by a foot. is this okay? do i need bigger?

please help

Hi there, the coop is fine, roughly allow a 1 foot sq per medium sized chook for accomodation. Common rule of thumb for run size is 1metre sq per bird, a minimum guide, the more the better.
Nestboxes you will find they will develop a preference to one, and they will up try to squeeze into to same one, or patiently forming a queue! :D
