Hello :)

A couple of years ago I saw a gorgeous pair of Mandarin Ducks and completely fell in love with them. Well now years later I have now moved and have the time and space to get some of my own.

I have cleared an area of 40 sqm for an enclosure for them. I'm looking for any advice or help on 1. owning ducks and 2. what I can do to make the enclosure nice for them :) I have put a small pond in there its about 2 ft deep and is about 1m square :)

I was thinking of putting bark down as a flooring as it is just dirt at the moment and the ground is a bit stoney... would this be okay?

What plants would be okay for me to put in the enclosure with them?

I was thinking of having 3 pairs .... is there enough room for all of them in the enclosure?

Thanks

How exciting!!! Firstly what breed are you thinking of getting?

Wood bark isn't ideal as it harbours mold, turf is good for their legs/feet and they like to graze a bit and forage. If you are getting wood ducks they need nest boxes and trees/branches to perch in ?)
