Here are some pictures of my maturing breed. I am thinking of splitting it into ornamental and egg laying types, since the checkered hens are larger and more prolific than the others, but are rarely crowned.
Monarch is one of my best young C@Cs. He'll go into next year's breeding. The bearded cockerel is for sale. He is looking a bit unkempt because his hackle is just coming through but he is going to be a lovey shiny greenblack. The third is a checkered hen, Dapple.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what breed are they exactly?
You are not ignorant. They are a new breed I am trying to create out of some old Pekins I was given, and two very mixed Sicilian Buttercup cockerels. At the moment I call them crowned and crested, which is simply a description- working title if you like, Eventually I hope they will become Roadrunner Rookies, as pictured in my blog cartoon. Trouble is I'm getting loads of intersting spin offs, like the bearded cockerel. I need a bit of help in exploring the best lines to work with . Help!
