Hi My name is Steve and I am very interested in keeping chickens. I have never done this before so am looking for as much help and advise as possible! We live in a small terraced cottage and have an area which we would like to give to a chicken run. However we do not have any grass in our garden, we have borders only the rest is concrete/patio. Can I still keep chickens in such an area? This may sound stupid but having read the various foods you can feed chickens I'm hopeful that I can. I want to do this properly so any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

Hi steve and welcome :) You don't need grass to keep chickens- as long as they can have something to scratch around in and dust bath in then they will be fine- You can put down wood chips in the run and give them a container with sand/soil in to dust bath in- the way to learn is ask questions, read all you can, search the net and have a plan before you buy! Ask any questions you like and I am also in Norfolk- near Downham Market , where are you? regards, David :)

A very warm welcome Steve - I hope you have lots of fun getting and keeping your chickens.

I would try to get a house / run area that is bigger than you need so there's always room for a little expansion later on ;) Chickens are very addictive and most people end up getting a few more :D
