Houdi April 2019.jpgView attachment 2View attachment 1

This is BYM's OH, I sent Marigold some pics ans she suggested I shared them with you. My neighbours farm hand had to deal with a medical emergency at home, and at that same moment all the lambs started arriving, so once again I went along to help. The first pic is of Houdi (Houdini) his mum died and he can escape from anywhere he is put especially when he spies a bottle coming. Or we are hunting Houdi
The second pic the little lamb on the right was "hung" it's head was out but a leg was stuck back and I actually managed to put the head back and find the leg, straighten it and then the lamb came out quite easily, mum and lamb were considerably less shaky than I was after the event. My only knowledge was having read about it and seen it done. Pic was 12 hours after the event so I guess I did ok
The other pics are just a few of the other lambs.
I am quite used to my unique perfume at the moment eau de lamb. Shame I don't have a picture of tiddler, you would be less wet standing under Niagara Falls

Sorry other pics didn't get sent. I need a new laptop for sure

It's frustrating isn't it! The system seems to time out on all but one image (it's not your laptop.) The only way I've found of beating it is to write the post, upload all the images in one go then rapidly place inline then send the post immediately without previewing and if you were quick enough they will all work!
The lambs are lovely!

Thanks Rick, they taste good to ! They are Suffolk/Texels. I should have put that in the pic of me and Houdi he is the good looker on the right

Suffolk’s - they have no right to live on Gods clean earth!?
Seriously though they are difficult lambers and the lambs will lay down and die if confronted with any adversity.
Small heads and narrow shoulders save a lot of work. Top marks to you though for delivering it.

Thank you! Lovely pictures! As I have never had anything to do with any sort of sheep or lamb, other than eat it, I am quite in awe. My SIL tells me that a sheep's aim in life is to end its life ahead of time, so I understand that they aren't perhaps the brightest animals in the flock.

Don't tell my neighbour that Hen-Gen, they usually lamb without too much bother maybe because they are cross breeds, and thanks for the well done.
A sheep's aim in life does seem to be to die, with extra points if they can manage it in a particularly stupid manner.
I must look out some pictures of her Dexter cattle calves.
I look almost human in the pic, unlike my passport photo which I renewed a fortnight ago. I look like an elderly alien after a horrendous galactic journey.
The little lamb that I delivered last Friday is now out in the fields running around quite happily

Aw, they're gorgeous!! Lambs around here come early. Usually, by mid/end February, they are all bouncing around the fields. Being so near the coast, I suppose we're that bit milder. We're that bit further south too.

Cool. What is it with sheep? They just wanna die asap. Silly animals.

Well done to your wife! I bet she loved cuddling that new baby. I would. :-) The middle "family" photo is adorable. Must admit, lamb is my favourite meat. Not sure why we have to import it from NZ?? Anyone know? Seems we have enough sheep over here.

Mine are due in a fortnight. I can’t look at them without thinking of a whole range of recipes. I particularly like Cornish Pasties made with lamb rather than beef. I only keep four ewes now but that still gives me females to sell and males to freeze.
Must be admitted that they do seem to have a death wish. Including falling over cliffs. The tastiest bit of grass is always that bit about 3 feet over the edge.
A word in their defence though. They have been proven to have amazing facial recognition skills, both of other sheep and of humans. They can even recognise one another from photos. This comes with elephant type memories. Most sheep’s faces look the same to me!

Never thought of Cornish pasties made with lamb, or does that make it a Shetland pasty ? We will give it a go.
I guess the answer to the New Zealand lamb all goes back to clever marketing, same as Danish bacon, and now it is lodged in everyone's subconscious as the best.
OH always greets the lambs with "hello dinner". As she says to people who ask her how she can bear to eat something she has fed she just says once they come back from the butcher you don't know which one you are eating as you just pick one of the trays with a half or whole lamb in and in the freezer it goes, ditto with the trays of beef or pork
