New hens, funny poo - no other signs of illness

I only read the first page and thought she may be going broody Zoella. If she is hot underneath and floppy when you pick her up. Later in the process she will ruffle her feathers and squark to shoo you away. We have a baby TNN (23 weeks) who has laid about 6 eggs and has gone broody already! She will sit even without eggs and go into an apparent trance. Second thought was egg bound.

Glad she is OK. Unusual poo which shows some signs of sour crop so check that. It should be fairly firm and empty in the morning.

I don't think she will ever go broody, certainly not at the moment as she's only just laid her first two eggs, evidently at an unusually early age. One of the many advantages of keeping egglaying hybrids bred for the job!

Good news is both hens are laying fine now, we haven't had any more problems phew :-) the second hen started nearly 2 and a half weeks later so maybe it was just a little too soon.

Bad news is I had my first encounter with the dreaded F word this evening. The hens were safe in their pen and I heard their warning clucks, I chased it off nonetheless but it came back! So I am very worried now that it's just going to be a matter of time before it's persistence pays off.

Does anybody have any 'we beat the fox' stories to cheer me up?
