Hey gang,
Just thot I would let you know I am picking up 6 ex-batts tomoro...
COMPLETELY different from my previous pure breeds so I am a tad nervous as I have relatively little experience of hybrids, I was missing the chatter from the garden ( I even missed the destruction!) but am not ready to see litlle pekins or gentle giant sussex's yet so next best thing.....
Onwards and upwards!

Hope your new girls are settling in well. I had two rescue hens and they really were the friendliest hens ever and laid every day without fail. Very rewarding to see them in their new free life enjoying life as a hen should live it. :-)08 :-)08

Well I picked up my girlies yesterday.
4 are quite good looking, a bit pale but reasonably well feathered but there's 2 who are pretty sparse! So I am one tired bunny today, I have started the nightly hot water bottles escapade earlier than usual this year!!
But they are just lovely, and so placid! Well, 3 of the 6 are quite ready to become my friend, 2 are happy to watch from a distance and there is only 1 who is quite nervous.
Its early days as they have only been here for just over 24 hours but alls well so far, they came outside for a bit today into the run but have all gone back indoors again.. It must be really strange!
Will keep you posted! I can't wait to hear the chatter coming from my garden again once they are a bit more settled.
Bye guys!! Off to stand and stare at my new pride and joys for a bit

Check these out!! I have got my mum on the case for my 2 baldy's.... I am secretly hoping she will knit one for each of my newbies in case we have another horrid winter...

Well done Aileen!
I have realised, thank goodness, not too late, there are nothing like watching chicken antics to bring a smile!!
Today because it's been a lovely day in Camberley, I've had most of my hens out and about in the garden, including my granddaughter's nutty lemon cuckoo Pekin, Sorbet. This mad little hen spent about an hour on my lap, waiting, I'm sure, for Lucy to turn up, whilst chattering to me.
I'm sure your girls will grow feathers and confidence. One of my ex-bats still does not have a tail, and probably never will, but she has magnificent wings now instead of dead feather stalks, and they are the greatest egg producers still.
I hope you and your bats thrive, regards, Val B.
