hiya sorry for all the questions already. im sure you all know the answer to this.... can i get more hens and keeps them with my other 2 girls??? i have plenty of space but someone told me they might fight? is this right? would love to get a couple more thanks in advance for your help

Hi, ask as many questions as you like :)
Yes, you can add more hens, and yes, they will fight for a little while- until the establish the pecking order- can you keep them separate so they can see each other but not fight? i.e. with a wire run/fence in between? if not, then i suggest you add them at night when the others are in the coop- this will help a little - try to get hens of the same size as yours and at least six months old and at least two more so that one doesn't get too much bullying. If you search the posts on here for introducing new hens that will help and give you some more ideas. Good luck :)
regards, David :)

Its a good idea to keep new hens separate for a couple of weeks just in case they have something wrong. Even moving hens can cause stress & bring out an underlying illness. If you can, keep the new ones within sight of your existing ones so they get used to each other. Its good practice also to do the ones you have first when feeding, water, cleaning etc, then the new ones so nothing passes on if there is a problem. Good luck with your new girls :D have you decided what breed you are going to get?

Hi Ged,

Are you thinking of Pekins Bantams?- like our motley crew. Their feet are never dry or clean, but they are so comical.... and always broody!!

Only ever had 4 pekins when i was about 10- (many years ago) - broodiness must have put me off because i have never had any bantams since- all large fowl i keep.
Thanks for sharing the lovely pics- keep up the good work.
regards, David :)
