My latest set of chicks, real total utter complete mongrels these ones. All of the are Orloff crossed with a range of Araucana, Lt Sussex, Orpington Bantam x, Exchequer Leghorn x. Done for fun and because I had the room at the time, we'll see how they turn out, from experience these types of crosses are normally decent enough birds if not the prettiest in the world.

:D I normally hatch in an Incy, but there is no better sight than chicks with mum :D unless it's ducklings :D

Me too, more control over things. Yeah ducklings are lovely, I've never had Ducks, was tempted by some Indian Runners in a ridiculously small pen the other day, but common sense prevailed as I've got too enough birds already.

Those chicks are simply lovely. It's good having them all different, you can tell them apart and I bet they've got wonderful hybrid vigour. I love the pic of the hen showing them how the feeder works!

Lovely chicks, Dino.
And it really is lovely for them to have a real Mum.
They look gorgeous. My second hatch of Croads are going through a difficult stage at the moment, look a bit like raggle-taggle teenagers.

Sorry I missed this post Dinosaw. The chicks look gorgeous and what an amazingly pretty Leghorn!

Some more photos to show how far they have come on in just a week.

What a fabulous bunch! Still really impressed with your leghorn beauty too. Where did the nice chick feeder come from?

A link to the feeder for you CF

Thanks Redbarn, raising chicks is lots of fun and easier than you might think.
