My Tammy has taken to sitting on top of their plastic house & seems to be what I can only describe as vibrating her wings. When she does it she is lying all tucked in & closes her eyes & vibrates loudly enough for it to sound as though is purring slightly. Any ideas why she is doing this?

No she doesn't have a mate, she was Tillman's favorite girl until he passed away last autumn, but now lives with just her female companion Tilly. Are you suggesting she is trying to attract a mate?

I thought the same as Marigold :) think I would be inclined to get her a fella.

The girls are both nearly two so I thought I was be kind to them letting them live out the rest of their lives in peace :)
I am fairly new to quails so I don't know how two older birds would react to a younger male? Also would it be ok to then integrate new females with an older male as & when Tammy & Tilly join Tillman in quail heaven? :?

Yes, should be fine, a couple of months ago I introduced my 18 mth old male (whose mate had died) to 6 month old girls & 'touch wood' all still ok & filling eggs! Your girls should be fine with a younger boy ;)
