Out of the second clutch I hatched I had a 50% hatch rate, which was disappointing considering all 7 had hatched last time (with one dying shortly afterwards).

However, these eggs came through the post, 2 didnt get past the first week, and the other one, seemed to be doing well, but just didnt hatch. (I didnt open the egg, just put it down to nature)

I have 2 yellow chicks and one black. The yellows, I believe are Speckled Sussex but have no idea what the black one is as they were mixed eggs.

So here are my new babies

Congratulations on your second hatch Cliodhna, 50% for eggs through the post isn't too bad to be honest, in fact it is at the higher end, they are generally older and inevitably get knocked about which takes it's toll on the viability of the eggs, I think you have done well, obviously have a knack for it.

Yes it is Marigold, these babies are much more demanding than my welsummers. They stand at the front of the cage chirping and jumping at the wire until they are taken out and picked up. They are quite happy once they are out and on your lap (or snuggled inside my children's dressing gowns) but as soon as you walk in the room they are letting you know they want to be picked up. Its like having toddlers all over again!
