National egg day

According to Twitter today was national egg day. And here it is!
They should have called it national eggs day!

Your getting a similar amount from your hens as I am from my bedraggled, moulting, mycoplasma suffering lot. What is it with these days, weeks and months though?
It's also national curry week, chocolate week, dyspraxia awareness week and baby loss awareness week. Lets not forget to mention national walk to school, breast cancer awareness, home security, cholesterol, pituitary awareness and ADHD awareness month too.

Oh don't forget, it's national hand washing day tomorrow.

Obviously invented by an advertising agent with no chickens.

Got it a little wrong - it was world egg day so makes more sense in Australia perhaps. Has a pre-hellenic creation myth ring to it!

Still, I'm glad to say that my little Columbian Blacktsil is now laying in the nestbox, instead of on her pile of overnight poo. However, she still somehow manages to walk all over her egg on the way out, so it's often a bit grubby!

That's good to hear Marigold. I thought her laying must get back out of sync with roosting before too long. Two eggs today

Just out of interest - is she laying early in the morning now?

I wouldn't know - I usually leave them to lay in peace in the morning and then collect eggs and clean the coop in the afternoon.
