Sadly" Nancy is in trouble again. She has been leaking water from her vent for over 10 days now.
She is alert, eating, doing all her 'happy to be alive' stuff, but has a constantly wet back end and it's starting to cause her to pull her own feathers out. She is pooing normally through the watery stuff, has not got sour crop or impacted crop. She has been wormed this week so worms are not the issue and can find no lice or red mite, so not sure where to go from here.
I'm bathing her every few days to keep her back end clean, she's had cider vinegar which always helps her digestion and a dab of sudocreme to help with the sore bits...
She had that terrible vent gleet episode a while back, which I know will not have done her insides any good and she deffinately can't digest food as well as she could before it, but anyone think of anything I could do to help her? Not sure antibiotics will help, but may be wrong.

Sorry to hear that Babybantam. Given you have ruled out gleet, worms and compaction and she doesn't seem unwell, the only things I can think of is that she is overheated and doing particularly watery poos to cool down or that she has broken an egg internally but that almost always has sick chicken symptoms to go with it as I'm sure you know already. Sorry not to be more help.

She's not laid more than a few eggs this season, mainly I think due to being sick on and off and has never laid many. She's also only ever been broody once or twice in her life which is unheard if for a pekin. Total tomboy :)
She does seem to be drinking more than usual, but the 3 of them drink less than a litre per day, so doesn't seem excessive.
Luckily she's used to baths now and loves the hair drier, so back to the chicken parlour later today

Well, she's still here.... and is our little miracle girl. No idea what's wrong with her, no idea why she's on the mend, but after weeks of downward spiral she's eating again and her vent is drying up.
Thrice weekly bathing, blow dry and sudecream for the sore bits and her vent, a lot of love and white bread diet and she's turned the corner.
Happy me :)
