my hen has stopped laying :s

hi all

i have a silkie sussex cross hen and she started laying in january for about 2 months and now she has stopped laying :s

we was getting an egg aday from her she missed about 3 - 4 days out of a month and now she has stopped while all my other hens continue to lay
i was just wondering what could of caused this?

Have you checked she's not going into molt, not agrivated by mite, or out of condition ? IIRC silkies only lay about 100 eggs in an ideal year. ... That would imply periods of no eggs to me.

Like you guys.... I'll be interested to know the answer to this one ....

If you are sure there are no mites etc and bedding is clean there is then nothing to worry about and if your silkie was laying early on she probably will stop laying for a while - Silkies are goodish layers, about 100 a year, which means for a bit more than two thirds of the year she won't lay they are better known for being good broodies than layers 17

she was just before she stopped laying but i kept taking the eggs out and she just sat in an empty nestbox and then after a week she stopped sitting on the eggs and then just stopped laying but there are afew feathers in the garden so she might be molting or i guess it cud just be the silkie in her

If she went broody, that's the reason she stopped laying. She'll start again when she's ready but she may moult first.
