Hello everyone, My girls stoped laying quite a few months ago now, so the Vet recommended I wormed them, so I bought Flubenvet, and just one of my Silkies laid for a couple of weeks, then went broody again!!, PLEASE help me, I really dont know whats wrong with them, and am getting really worried now!, Thankyou.

Hi, worming will have no effect on laying- at this time of year very few hens are laying- mainly pullets and if you dont have extra light then you will not get many eggs. Also silkies are very poor layers- they normally just lay a "clutch" and then go broody. What kind of birds do you have? What are you feeding them? How old are they?
regards, David :)

are your birds moulting as that can slow or stop birds laying as well , normally i have around 12 - 18 eggs per day from 20 layers { different breeds } and now i am down to 6 - 8 per day as the moult is going strong at the mo , while my new ex batts are getting thier new feathers i dont expect many eggs from them any way.

Alot of birds slow down this time of year as there is less daylight. From 80 ex battery hens I am getting around 10 eggs a day a few weeks ago I was getting about 40 eggs a day. All the pure breeds have also stopped laying. Pekins stopped around 6 weeks ago and will probably start to lay again around February time.

wow thats one big drop :o hehehe no i feel better about my 8 possiable ex batts not laying yet again today i still only got 6 eggs , thing is mine never really stop laying even in the winter months so i am hoping this is only for a few weeks :D i remember this all from last year and i moaned like hell to only then find out that the girls had been laying under the shed when it was removed i found 36 eggs :? and yes i have checked the new shed as thats about the only one they could squeeze under if they really wanted to .
