Hi,
Lovely ducklings, :-)17
I have some chocolate and white youngsters, it's the first time I have hatched any, like you say they are full of mischief :D , they have got so much more character than my other breeds of duckling, so definately a fan of them.

We have just hatched out some Muscovy ducklings.....we think :-)19

3 of the eggs hatched out at 28 days though, so we are thinking somebody picked up some duck eggs aswell as the Muscovy eggs. Is there an easy way to tell the difference between Muscovy ducklings & others ?

There is a difference in the bills, but this takes a few weeks to develop, plus maybe the fluff colouring. It depends on what else you have hatched though. Muzzys take longer to hatch 35 days v 28 so any late hatched ones are likely to be Muzzys.

A DEFINATE Muscovy fan here....they are my absolute FAVOURITE breed! (don't tell my Khaki Campbells though! lol) I would absolutely LOVE to have a couple of them again. Yours are lovely!!! :)

Hello
I have just acquired my trio of muscovy ducklings. They are lovely. I have kept chickens before but am new to ducks. We have named them Molly, Matilda and Webster. I am a bit worried about them flying off when they grow up, but don't really want to have their wings clipped. I noticed someone's post saying they always come back!
So far ours take themselves to bed every night (after a point in the right direction on the first night), and trot down the ramp in the morning when I open their door.
It's not that great a picture, but I had to keep downsizing it to meet the maximum requirements.

hi Zak, Muscovie ducklings are longer and flatter and have fatter shorter legs than other ducklings. (mallards.)

"Always come back". NO! They will only stay if you have a lake, or perhaps you could get away with a large pond. It is also important that there are not a lot of barriers or roads about, or wild lakes or rivers within their sight when flying.

My muscovy ducks do fly, the drakes are at the moment but I expect that will change soon as they get heavier! :D
This was one of the boys saying good morning at the bedroom window..normally he hovers at the back door waiting for breakfast scraps but yesterday he was a bit impatient methinks! :D
