Wondered if anyone can help, this problem has literally arisen in a couple of days, typically as we have been away!

Puddle is in the peak of health, however I did notice a small flaky area on her bill around 4 days ago. Thought nothing off it just a mental note to check on our return from the Lakes.

Came back to find that her bill where it meets her carbuncled area looked a bit moist, bit like a nasty cold sore, plus both her eyes look to have the same problem..one side worse than the other. There is no pus/discharge or even redness, just a nasty sort of crusty moistness that I really don't like the look of!

I am thinking a fungal ..or maybe a trich infection of some sort?

Have any of you ducky peeps seen this before?

Will be taking her to a poultry vet tommorrow.

No clue about muscovies and infections, to slow it down i would try bepanthen/sudocrem or something antiseptic to see if that helps! sorry ive never seen anything like this before! Perhaps a small miniscule cut could have resulted in this, i would try the creams for a few days and if nothing changs then i'd ask the vets! Good luck!

whoops forgot an update. :-)01 ..The lovely avian vets at St Davids Exeter helped out (also where chicken vet are based). She has been on a course of nystatin (systemic anti-fungal) plus Baytril for about a week, the infection almost took her poor thing as she became really ill, wobbly on her pins, plus her droppings looked very slimy and green.
She is not out of the woods yet, but eating and drinking, physically much improved. Her mask has healed nicely she just has an abscess which needs sorting where some of the infecton must have drained into one of her sinuses.
Trying to medicate a duck is really interesting....Nystatin tastes horrible..as Puddle somehow managed to squirt a whole syringeful in my face...clever ducks them muscovies! :D

Good point re: sudacreme, when the scabs started coming off I used sudacreme to protect the new skin underneath, worked a treat!
