I have got a broody hen.... Henrick. She is sat on eggs on a shelf in the main nesting house and really want to move her to a safe place. I have a rabbit hutch and am trying to move her but every time we put her on the nest with her eggs she is desperate to get back to her original nest in the big house. The other girls have already broken 2 eggs as they keep trying to lay on top of her and push her out of the way. How can I persuade her to move to the safe nest? I am scared if she stays there the other hens will continue to bully her or the chicks will come and jump off the shelf and die... Please help.

can you lock her in the rabbit hutch.
when latifa went broody it was in the duck house so grabbed her with the straw and eggs together (good job have big hands) put the lot in rabbit hutch and shut door. left her for half hour then shoved in food and water, it was her bed time too which ment she was too tied to fight me. shes stil on eggs but i bought in fertil ones for her so she should have babies in just over a week

Some just don't like to move. It's more complicated for you because the eggs are developing. The usual advice would be to move her at night but it might be too risky as if she refuses to sit in the hutch, the eggs will get cold.

Can you make the shelf a bit more safe until the eggs hatch and then take them to the hutch.
