It is advisable to take an Aseel hen's chicks away from her, so that she can start laying eggs again? Aseel hens are supposed to be good mothers but poor layers, i've read they produce usually only about 36-60 eggs a year, with that being around 3-4 clutches. i was wondering, if I took her chicks away from her and brooded them myself, would my hens thus lay more eggs due to the fact that they wouldn't spend time raising her chicks? and will the hens be okay with this?

I don't know about Aseels - sorry, I find that my broodies tend to start laying about 6 weeks if left with chicks. If removed early for any reason they still seem to wait about the same time before laying again.I mainly have silkies and Sussex bantams as broodies. No idea if that helps you! Ros

mine didnt lay till 6/7 weeks after even the one who lost all her chicks at a fue weeks.
chicks with mum normally happyier and healthier so id leave them
