Hi everyone,

I wrote a topic on here a few days ago about my Bluebelle and her crop being large but going over night.
This morning I have let her out and it is still fairly large. I felt it and it is still all squishy though. Again, she doesnt smell and is acting normal. Should I worry or relax?!?! :)

Hi, try and relax- just keep an eye on her- if she's acting normally- and eating , drinking and droppings ok then don't worry too much :)
Try to enjoy them :)
regards, David :)

Thanks David. I know Im neurotic when it comes to my girls. Just love them to bits! And experience has shown me just how quickly things can go irriversible wrong! Hence the panic and paranoia. :)

Hi Amy,
You said she's a piglet, she probably ate so much the day before that it hadn't all digested :D
Really do think this breed is the greedy guts of the hen world, bless they
BTW getting two ex-batts on 27th June from BHWT so thanks for the info. Very happy :D :D :D

Fabulous news! Im so pleased for you! Its so exciting...will let you know how I get on with mine on Sat!

Right I know Im in danger of being a right pain in the bum but I have just been outside to check on them and the following has occurred: -

1) I have a tiny chocolate egg which I guess is from either the Bluebelle (greedy guts) or the Speckledy. But as the speckledy still seems a lot younger (looks wise) to the Bluebelle I am assuming it is hers.

2) Melinda, my Bluebelle crop is huge in comparison to my other girls. I had a feel and it is slightly squishy in the fact that I can move it around and push my fingers into it (like a stress ball) although I can feel alot of pellets in there if you get what I mean. However, when I pick up my black rocks, there crops are all warm and liquid squishy.

The reason I am panicking is that if there is potentially a problem Id rather act now whilst she seems happy and healthy than wait until she has stopped eating and has gone down hill to the point where it is too late. My little Florence died only 2 weeks ago now from issues that included a huge squishy crop. Hence the panic.

Hi Amy,
Can't help with the crop I'm afraid because I don't have enough experience. If you are really worried perhaps a trip to the vets will help. I know you have to pay but you'll have peace of mind.

As for the egg, A bluebelle lays a cream coloured egg and the speckledy a dark brown speckled egg. It's probably the speckledy's with more pigment than normal, maybe because it's her first. My bluebelle still doesn't lay proper eggs even though she is older, but they are definately cream.

And the ex-batts. Sooo excited but also worried about getting it right, you know? Definately want updates and pics when you get yours. :D
