i did not want to put mixing different breeds as a title but i didnt know what else to put  , i spoke to an old chicken farmer today { aslo sheep and other livestock } and we was talkig about me needing another coop as my chicks wont house with the big girls or the ex batts and he mentioned maybe spraying all my birds with a weeny bit of perfume so they all smell the same and that should sort out any probs with the girls sleeping all together :? :? :-)11 well i can see what he was saying as you rub a dead lambs smell onto other lambs so the mum of dead lamb will except a different one and i have been involved with that sort of thing within the racing studs where you skin a dead foal an place the skin on the live foal to get the mare to except it but this thing with perfume on chickens ??????? dare i say has anyone tried it or anything similar this to me seems sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo stupid but i can also see how it might work , whats your opions :-)05

i just had to kinda laugh and say you think i am using the expensive david beckham aftershave you have anything coming

Was trying to think of a poultry themed perfume but couldn;t!
Never tried, but I find my girls that free range keep in their own groups (apart from my randy light sussex bantam that chases anything in feathers!)

Havent tried it myself, but have heard that using a mild vinegar solution for a few days works. Ive got mixed sizes in one hut/run & am about to introduce 5 mixed size POL into the bigger run soon.

If your chickens freerange, Id been inclined to let them choose where they sleep. Get another house anyway, as you are bound to want more chickens  (well thats my excuse!!!)

i wont be getting anymore util some of mine die of ,my run is about 33 ft by 33 i think at the last time i measured it and it keeps growing  but i will only limit myself to 20 birds max although i have had 27 in there .
