Quick question can LF(cochins) mix with bantams birds ok or will they fight ? :-)19

I have mixed my LF Dorkings with bantams I even have some small rosecombes in with them. I do have a lot of space though so they can get away if necessary. It all went well when I integrated them although I did put the LF into the bantams area. The other way around may have been more difficult. I would not have tried it had my run been small but otherwise as long as you supervise the first few hours I would say its would be OK

Cochins are usually so laid back they are almost horizontal!

My LF do mix with my bantams with no problem (apart from trying to tread them! :-)07 ) but would agree with the post above, only in a large run so there is room for the littlies to get away if necessary.

Those cochins can run very, very fast if they've a mind too!

Thanks Philcott.....true about laidback indeed !...the black cochin cock is a right woos too, when i go in the run he scarpers lol

The only thing I would watch for is Amorous Heavy males repeatedly treading, or attempting to tread small bantam hens. Small females can be killed by accident by such attentions! I own a large, and VERY heavy Malay male who took a shine to an ex-laying rescue hybrid hen, and unfortunately he ' Loved' her to death!. . . .
