The mongrel offspring of the Count are starting to develop their colouring. Ginger is exbatt x, black are araucana and leghorn x, black and white are lt sussex x and the brown and grey are blue orp x. The white one is a bit of a mystery as it is so different it seems to have got a mega shot of its dads genes. I have perhaps seen why chickens are racist toward white birds as often I can't see them when I go up and they are sat down in the bushes, until that is I spot a flash of white which instantly gives them away.

ooo - lovely! I don't think I've seen such blue hens before - they're very striking.

I know what you mean about white birds. I let my four out to free range today and I could only find them under the conifers 'cos I could see my Light Sussex.
