iam slightly confused here! re my last post about keeping chicks and ducks together, as i split chicks from ducks i went out to get more food (having been given enough to keep chicks for a couple of weeks) i bought more chick crumbs and asked if it was "medicated" where upon i was told "we are not allowed to sell medicated any more " Pleaseeeeeeeeee someone enlighten me!! thanks

Hi, if you bought it from a pet shop- then it will be unmedicated- the cant sell medicated crumb/pellets without a license- you will only get medicated feed from a feed merchant with a license- most, if not all of them have one- it's only the little pet shops/one off places that wont.
Hope this clears it up for you :)
regards, David :)

HI, Davidd thanks for the reply . duh! you can tell i dont keep chicks, i just assumed chicks needed medicated crumbs, but thanks anyway.

Two local pet shops to me sell medicated - and one says chick crumbs are suitable for ducklings too  Makes me mad, I keep trying to educated them on this and they just say another waterfowl breeder told them they would be ok!

Something else that's happening - the ACS drugs that are added to some chick crumb are not having as much of an effect these days - so I've heard (ref Victoria Roberts) many companies are withdrawing them from their feeds anyway... so soon there might not be a problem.
