Maran found dead today

Went to put our ten chickens away yesterday, the one maran was not in the coop, found her in the garden quite listless, put her in the coop, however found her dead this morning. No signs of illness from our four orpingtons, three Pekins, Wyandotte and Light Sussex.
Any ideas, and are the others likely to get ill ?

Sorry to hear about your hen, unfortunately chickens just sometimes get sick and die very quickly, I would just keep a close eye on the others, and if any show signs of being listless, take them to the vet.
Last night when I went to shut everything in, I found one of my Old English Game cockerals lying dead, He was lying on his back with his feet in the air, in typical cartoon fashion, he looked perfectly fine in the morning. However when I had a closer look at him he appeared to have quite badly frostbitten feet, with one toe completely missing, I think it must have played a part in his demise.
