Louse powder

Evening all

I've noticed my hens all cleaning themselves rather a lot the last few days and a couple of times hens obviously pecking things from the face of other hens. On first inspection I found nothing but then today I looked again and spotted some lice on one of the hens. I'm keen to try Diatom but all I could get locally was a farmyard louse powder for use on livestock. The active ingredient is p-menthane and I can find nothing online that actually says it's safe to use on poultry. Can any of you experts advice please as I'm keen to try and get rid of them before their numbers multiply. Just thinking about them is making me itch ;)

Thanks all

Helen

Hi
That will also do the trick, check around the vent and under carriage of a hen, lice will start to lay eggs at the base of feathers.

Thanks. Was concerned about the possibility of poisoning them! I'm sure I'll get less nervous about their care as I get used to them.
