one of my ex batts had stopped eating about 3 or 4 days ago but she wasnt showing an spytoms of any illness she just went dull and sad so this morning after giving her just a few days to see if she would pick up i examined her and she wasnt egg bound but she did have a massive lump just inside her vent which seemed to be attached to her side and i was very worried it might of been a tumour not prolapse { not dealt with that yet though } so i took her to the vet and he agreed the lump very well could of been a tumour so we decided to let her go :( :( even the vet gave her a little cuddle and a tickle under her neck as he took are away he was really good and more then happy with me for giving her a great life after being in battery cages thing is i couldnt tell if she was one of my original ex batts from 3 or 4 yrs ago or one from last year they pretty much all look the same now they are in full feather .

but ethier way shes not suffering and is up there now enjoying chicken heaven REST IN PEACE CHICK CHOOK :-)99

Hey loobyminski,
Hope you're doin ok, its rubbish, the only and best consolation you can have is that you gave her a fab post caged life!

 hi aileen me is liking my new nickname loobyminski its bit of a mouthfull first thing in the morning . she did have a good life bless her .

Lost one of our 3 days ago too. It's devastating - Cio-Cio had been unwell for a month and nothing we did seemed to help. It was very painful to see her deteriate. You did the right thing - but doesn' make it any easier.

I am sorry for your loss, but you have to think on the positive side that you gave her a life.
