My bantam hen was a dark glossy brown a year ago and now she's faded almost to beige all over. She appears very healthy in every other way. She has a diet of organic layers pellets, corn, fresh water, and delicious fresh soft fruit, veg, rice each day. She's wormed regularly too. She's mostly wyandotte with some orpington there too. Does anyone have any ideas? Perhaps the person I bought her from was polishing her each day????? Any thoughts?

At this time of year, they can lose colour - the sunlight fades some - My white Orpington lads looks almost dirty yellow from the summer sun that has bleached his feathers.

She will soon be moulting and will lose all of those feathers and they will be replaced by shiney new ones....and then she should look like a new bird!
